Arshdeep Singh trolling: The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY) on Monday sought clarification from prominent information service website Wikipedia over the alleged tampering of Indian paceman Arshdeep Singh’s profile.
Arshdeep Singh was severely criticized over the internet after he created a blunder against Pakistan in India’s Super 4 contest last night. Singh went sloppy on the field after losing an easy catch of Pakistani batsman Azhar Ali in the 18th over of the match.
Arshdeep’s dropped catch cost the match for India as Ali went on to hit a massive six and a boundary in the forthcoming over to anchor Pakistan’s chase of 182 runs. India is now in a do-or-die situation to qualify for the finals.
Arshdeep Singh Trolling: His Profile has been edited by Pakistan’s IP Address
According to the reports, Arshdeep’s profile was amended by a user with an IP address traced to Pakistan. The editor replaced ‘India’ with ‘Khalistan’ in Singh’s place of birth details. This triggered major controversy as the Government of India intervened in this issue.
The tracked IP address is of the same person who had earlier made changes in ex-Pakistan Army Chief Pervez Musharraf’s profile & also made derogatory statements against Pakistan-UAE ties in 2014.
Serving a legal notice to Wikipedia, the Indian Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology wrote that changes made to Arshdeep Singh’s profile have falsely ratified the image of the cricketer. This can further lead to communal disharmony and unnecessary social disturbances in society.
Veteran Cricketers came in support of Arshdeep Singh
Meanwhile, veteran Indian cricketers have come out in support of Arshdeep Singh and backed the Punjab Kings paceman. Harbhajan Singh, Mohammed Shami, Yuvraj Singh, and Virender Sehwag took to Twitter and asked the fans to stand strongly behind the young pacer.
Former captain Virat Kohli also came out in Arshdeep’s support at the post-match press conference. Punjab Sports Minister also turned up to Arshdeep’s parents and assured their complete support. India will take on Sri Lanka in their upcoming Super 4 fixture on Tuesday.
