AUS vs ENG 3rd ODI: Tasmania Pacer Riley Meredith has received a call-up in Australia’s squad for their final ODI against England to be played in Melbourne on Tuesday. Meredith received a green signal to feature in the squad as Mitchell Starc has been rested for the third Test ahead of the first Test against West Indies beginning next week.
Ashton Agar too will miss the AUS vs ENG 3rd ODI as he has left the squad & departed for Canberra where he will play a four-day pink ball Prime Minister’s XI match against West Indies starting on Wednesday. Meredith was the lone pacer in Australia’s optional session today at the MCG. He had a strong start to the Domestic Season scalping two five-wicket hauls & a four-wicket haul across eight Marsh Cup & Sheffield Shield matches this season & remains a part of Australia’s white-ball plans. Pat Cummins will return to the team for the final ODI after being rested from Saturday’s fixture in Sydney.
Australia has Sean Abbott in the squad for the MCG Test after receiving a call-up to the squad for the ODI series after Glenn Maxwell was ruled out of the series. He will feature in Tuesday’s Final ODI after Western Australia left-arm swing bowler Joel Paris was flown to Canberra to become a part of PM’s XI squad as Sean Abbott’s replacement. Josh Inglis who is all set to lead PM’s XI squad on Wednesday but has to join the ODI squad in Sydney after Cameron Green returned home to take some rest ahead of the Test match, is still in Melbourne for the final ODI he is practicing indoors facing pink balls to prepare for the upcoming Pink ball Prime Minister’s XI Match against West Indies beginning from this Wednesday.
Coming to the AUS vs ENG 2nd Test match, Australia displayed an all-round show to clinch the three-match ODI series by winning the second ODI by 72 runs. They will now lock horns in the third ODI to be played on November 22 at the grounds of MCG.
