AUS vs SA: There comes sad news for Cricket South Africa as their star batter Theunis De Bruyn will miss the final Test in Sydney due to the birth of his first child. De Bruyn has been recalled for the second Test in Melbourne in place of Rassie Van Der Dussen where he scored 12 & 28 at the No 3 position in South Africa’s disheartening innings & 182-run defeat.
But Theunis De Bruyn’s absence means that South Africa will have to make at least one change in their playing XI for Sydney Test. This means Dussen or Klaasen would probably return for the Sydney Test in place of injured Theunis De Bruyn. Africa’s batting show continues to deteriorate in front of Australia’s fiery bowling attack as they suffered a humiliating defeat in the second Test.
After the MCG Test Bavuma has taken up the responsibility of not being able to score centuries & converting starts into big scores. He said that scores of 60 & the 70s look good for a period of time but in long run, they couldn’t change the outcome of any fixture. He further said that he has been guilty of not being able to register centuries in his Test Career & he would definitely like to change it in long run.
AUS vs SA: South Africa may go for an Off-spinner for Sydney Test
Considering the condition in SCG grounds, South Africa might think of bringing in off-spinner Simon Harmer into the squad. During the MCG Test Rabada was their leading wicket-taker returning with figures of 10 at 23.30. However, it was Nortje who stood out in the crowd with his aggressive pace at the MCG & Jansen who has resulted in some uneasy moments with his left-arm angle bowling. However, Ngidi has been disappointing in his stint by scalping two wickets in two Tests while left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj couldn’t strike in almost 42 overs in Melbourne.
On the other hand, South Africa will travel to Sydney on the 31st Eve to prepare for the Sydney Test which they will have to win in order to keep their WTC Final hopes alive.
“We are playing for the badge, playing for the pride of our team. We’ve got to believe we can still bounce back and put up a massive effort for the third Test. Playing for pride is of utmost importance for us going forward now. I’m sure there are a lot of guys hurting. I can tell you that,” Elgar said about the third Test.
