Australia have already clinched the three-match T20I series by winning the first two T20Is comprehensively over Sri Lanka. They will now head into the third T20I with the aim of registering a series sweep by winning the third & the final T20I. While the Island Nation would just play for their pride & will avoid facing a series whitewash by winning the third T20I.
In the first T20I, the game was in teh favor of ‘Men in yellow’ who displayed a scintillating bowling attack to bundle out Sri Lanka for 128 runs in 19.3 overs. Sri Lanka’s top-order succumbed in front of Hazlewood’s fiery bowling spell who finished by scalping four wikcets for 16 runs in his spell of four overs. Australia later capitalized on their on-point bowling attack by displaying a perfect show with the bat. The Aussies completed their chase in 14 overs without losing even a single wicket, courtesy of David Warner and skipper Aaron Finch, who scored 70* and 61* respectively.
In the second T20I also, Sri Lanka displayed average batting performance & could amass just 124 runs in 20 overs losing nine wickets. This time the go-to-man for Australia who rattled the Lankans batting order was none other than Kane Richardson who returned with four wickets for 30 runs in his four overs spell. Though the visitors lost seven wickets in their chase, they won the game with 13 balls to spare, thanks to Matthew Wade who played a run-a-ball 26* and took his team over the line.
Sri Lanka’s major cause of concern have been their batters who miserably failed to score big. Except, Charith Asalanka none of the Sri Lankan batters could actually turn up with the bat. Sri Lankan batters should find ways to return to scoring terms if they aim to save their pride & win the final T20I. Whether Australia could register a clean sweep or Sri Lanka would have the last laugh by winning the third T20I, is what time will say.
