AUS vs WI 2022: Australia’s Captain Pat Cummins has announced the Playing XI for their first Test against West Indies beginning in Perth on November 30. However, without doing much cutting & chopping Cummins named almost the same squad that played the Test series against Sri Lanka. One major change made to the Playing XI is the exclusion of Mitchell Swepson from the Playing XI.
Swepson who was excluded from Australia’s Test squad after their poor show against Sri Lanka in the Galle Test held in July has been replaced by experienced pacer Josh Hazlewood. In Galle Test, though Swepson managed to scalp three wickets but ended up conceding huge 103 runs. As a result, he has been rested from West Indies Test Series. Instead, the Captain has opted to go with their standard line-up of three pacers & one spinner.
Veteran opener David Warner & Usman Khawaja will take care of the top order while Marcus Harris has received a call-up for the home Test series. This series is of great importance for both teams as it is a part of the WTC 2021-2023 cycle. Australia currently leads the WTC 2021-2023 team standings & a win will help them to maintain their top position in the WTC Points Table. After the conclusion of the West Indies series, Australia will host South Africa for three-match Test series & later they will tour India for four-match Test series
The AUS vs WI 2022 Tets Series will begin on November 30 at the Perth Stadium followed by the second & final Test to be played from December 8 to 12 at the Adelaide Oval. Currently, Australia enjoys the second spot in the WTC 2021-2023 cycle & winning the fixtures will help them to occupy the top spot at the WTC Points Table.
