BAN vs IND 3rd ODI: Today when the ‘Men in blue’ took the crease they might have walked with just one goal in mind i.e. to break the shackle & create some magic on the crease. They were successful in fulfilling their goal as the Indian team pulled off a heist & registered 227 run-win over Bangladesh in the third ODI to avoid a series sweep. Ishan Kishan’s double ton & Virat Kohli’s gleaming ton laid the foundation for India’s victory.
Virat-Ishan’s heroics guided India to a formidable Total
Batting first India got off to a poor start as they lost opener Shikhar Dhawan for just three runs to reduce India to 15-1. But then came a reprieve for India as second opener Ishan Kishan & Virat Kohli posted a rewarding 290-run stand for the second wicket to help India get an upper hand over Bangladesh. In this process, Ishan & Virat fired all cylinders & registered massive scores on board. Ishan Kishan turned the eyeballs by scoring 210 off 131 balls with 24 fours & 10 sixes.
He also became the fastest ODI centurion & seventh batter to register a double ton in the ODI format. Virat Kohli too unlocked his much-awaited ODI ton ending the three-year drought by bringing up his 72 International ton. He scored 113 runs off 91 balls with 11 fours & two sixes. However after their dismissal, there was a mini collapse for India as they lost quick wickets but in the end, Washington Sundar & Axar Patel helped India to cross the 400 run-mark. For Bangladesh Taskin Ahmed (2-89), Ebadot Hossain (2-80) & Shakib-Al-Hasan (2-68) scalped crucial wickets.
Bangladesh couldn’t chase a Mammoth total set by India
In reply, Bangladesh made a poor start to their campaign as they lost their opener for just 8 runs. But Litton Das & Shakib-Al-Hasan tried to resurrect Bangladesh’s innings by chipping in with crucial runs. Littin scored 29 runs off 26 balls while Shakib returned with 45 runs off 50 balls. After Liton’s dismissal, Shakib held the one end strongly & stitched valuable stands with Yasir Ali (25 off 30), & Mahmudullah (20 off 26 balls) to keep Bangladesh alive in the chase.
But wickets falling continuously at the other end meant Bangladesh was wrapped at just 182 runs in 34 overs. Their lower order failed miserably to provide some resistance & thus their inning ended within 200 runs. For India, Shardul was the pick of the bowlers as he returned with figures of (3-30), Axar Patel (2-22) & Umran Malik (2-43). However, the win was of no use to India as they have already lost the series with a 2-0 score.
