Barclay, Allardice to meet Indian broadcasters to discuss ICC Media Rights

Greg Barclay & Geoff Allardice, the chairman & CEO of the ICC have taken appointments with the television and digital media executives in India, and are set to meet them in Mumbai to discuss ICC Media Rights. Both of them are invited by the BCCI for the IPL playoffs and final will be in Mumbai on Friday where the meetings are scheduled.

Barclay who is currently in Kolkata for the first two matches of the play-offs will be joined by the CEO in Mumbai before they head to Ahmedabad for the final on Sunday, May 29. The ICC sources & media executives have confirmed to Cricbuzz about the meeting in which they will discuss the ICC rights tender, the process of which is expected to be completed in July. The ICC will be selling the rights for the 2024-31 cycle of world cricket. The tender will be out immediately after the BCCI completes the sale of the IPL rights by mid-June.

One of the points of discussion in the meeting will be the Champions Trophy in 2025, allotted to Pakistan. Debates are going on in India after the ICC allotted the championship to Pakistan with India’s Sports Minister Anurag Thakur commenting about it too in regards to India’s participation. The issue was also raised last month when the ICC Chairman & CEO met the television executives & big digital players of the country in Mumbai for discussing ICC media rights.

BCCI hires Mjunction for conducting IPL Rights E-auction in June

The BCCI has hired the services of MJunction Services Limited to conduct the IPL media rights e-auction from June 12. MJunction, a Joint Venture of Sail and Tata Steels, will be providing the bidding platform for the E-auction.

The MJunction Services Limited will also be conducting a workshop, mock auction & a few training sessions for the parties who will be eligible to bid for the IPL media rights. The E-Auction for Package A & B (India sub-continent television and digital rights) will be held first on June 12 followed by bidding for Package C and D, to be conducted on June 13.
