The BCCI on Thursday confirmed the dates for Annual General Meeting. The BCCI AGM is all set to be held on October 18. According to a notification sent by BCCI Secretary Jay Shah, the AGM will be held in Mumbai on October 18. As per the Agenda List sent by the BCCI to the state associations, Women’s IPL will be the central topic of discussion at the AGM.
The introduction of Women’s IPL has been on BCCI’s radar for almost a year & as per BCCI’s President, Sourav Ganguly, the Women’s IPL will begin in March 2023. The model of Women’s IPL is under funnel & once it’s completed the BCCI will issue the tender of Media Rights & sale of franchisees. As per the sources, the event will be a six-team tournament & the final decision about the same will be taken at the AGM.
The other major items on the agenda list are the election of the office-bearers: president, vice-president, secretary, joint secretary, and treasurer. There are still doubts over the final set of BCCI office-bearers. However, with Supreme Court amending BCCI’s constitution there are chances of the current panel barring one exception, to be re-elected. Another crucial aspect of the agenda is the appointment of ICC representatives.
“To appoint the BCCI’s representative or representatives on the International Cricket Council (ICC) and or any similar organization,” reads Item R of the notice.
Who will represent BCCI is a topic of discussion since N Srinivasan is no longer a contender for the role. Currently, both Sourav & Jay Shah are the nominated representatives to the ICC.
The next two items (S & T) are: “To update on ICC matters” and “To update on ICC tax matters.” These are important issues considering that the ICC is expecting tax relief for the 2023 World Cup and subsequent three other events – in 2026, 2029, and 2031. Besides, the BCCI also will have to decide if it will field a candidate for the ICC chairman position.
Let’s have a look at the crucial points of the BCCI AGM Agenda List:
- To give updates about National Cricket Academy Matters.
- To update on infrastructure development initiatives undertaken by the BCCI in the North-Eastern region.
- Update on India’s Future Tour program.
- Update on the concluded IPL Media Rights and the upcoming BCCI Media Rights
- To give updates on the revised infrastructure subsidy policy.
