BCCI fixes January 26 deadline for WIPL players Auction Registration

The BCCI on Saturday has finally fixed the date for the Women’s IPL 2023 Players Auction. The governing body on Saturday sent out a formal statement to the players inviting them to the WIPL Players auction to be held in February. In the statement, the BCCI clearly stated that the players could register for the auction till the deadline of January 25 upto 5 pm.

WIPL PLayers Auction will feature both Capped & Uncapped Players

The BCCI has invited both capped & uncapped players to register for the Players auction. The capped players will be divided into three reserve price categories i.e. INR 50 lakh, 40 lakhs & 30 lakhs while for the uncapped players, two reserve price categories of INR 20 lakh & 10 lakhs are fixed. The bidding process for both capped & uncapped players will begin from their fixed reserve price categories.

In line with the existing IPL protocols, ‘the auction register’ will be filtered by the five franchisees which are yet to be named to further form an ‘Auction List’ which will further be presented for the bidding process. The players who failed to get any franchisee during the WIPL Players Auction but have entered the ‘registered Available Player Pool’ will have a second chance to get picked up as replacement players.

Women’s IPL media Rights to be held on January 16

Meanwhile, the Women’s IPL Media Rights auction which was slated for January 12 will now be conducted on January 16. The BCCI has also released the Invitation to Tender (ITT) document inviting entities to buy franchises in Women’s IPL with unique clauses. One such clause included in the ITT document was that if for any possible reason, five franchisees could not form or the inaugural edition of the league could not be conducted then the media rights contract will be terminated. The deadline for submitting ITT is set on January 21.

Women’s IPL is all set to begin in the first week of March 2023 with five franchisees possibly participating in the maiden edition of the league.
