It’s a moment of joy for Nitish Rana as he scored his maiden half century against Delhi Capitals & dedicated it to his father-in-law, Surinder Marwah who died on Friday.
Nitish Rana was promoted in KKR’s top batting order to open the innings with Shubman Gill. Rana smashed Nortje by hitting boundary on the last ball of 13th over to register his 10th IPL fifty off 35 deliveries. Soon after reaching his half century, Rana raised a specially designed KKR T-shirt with his father-in-law’s name inscribed on the back of his T-shirt. He & Sunil Narine together stitched a 115 runs stand for the fourth wicket in just 56 balls on which KKR posted a huge total of 194/6 in 20 overs.
After KKR were sent to bat by DC captain Shreyas Iyer, KKR started very badly losing Shubman Gill & Rahul Tripathi in the Power-play. Captain Dinesh Karthik’s below average form continued & he got out after hitting the ball which landed straight in pant’s hands behind the stumps. KKR decided to send Narine ahead of captain Eoin Morgan & the cricketer made a solid comeback into the side, by facing power-pack attack of opponent’s bowlers & scoring a quick 64 runs off 32 balls putting KKR in a strong commanding position.
After Narine’s departure Rana handled the batting of KKR by hitting spectacular boundaries. He got out on the second last delivery of the innings by scoring whopping 81 runs off 53 balls. Morgan also departed on the last ball but till then KKR had already reached a decent total which was enough for them to hail a glorious victory.
