Chennai Super Kings Squad 2023: The IPL 2023 Auctions finally concluded with some heavyweights being bought by the top franchises. One of IPL’s most successful franchises Chennai Super Kings too had their stellar stint at the auctions and have grabbed their desired cricketers to seize the title yet again.

  1. Ben Stokes

Chennai Super Kings have begun their hunt for their captaincy transition as incumbent skipper MS Dhoni is likely to retire in the upcoming season. Ben Stokes emerged as CSK’s most expensive pick of the auction as the franchise bought the star-studded English all-rounder for a whopping Rs. 16.25 crores.

2. Kyle Jamieson

Chennai Super Kings are aiming to strengthen their death bowling attack as they have bought New Zealand paceman, Kyle Jamieson. Jamieson was bought for his base price of Rs. 1 crore and interestingly, the franchise faced no hassle in including Jamieson in their squad.

Amongst the other prominent picks, CSK once again showed their respect to veteran Indian cricketers and bought test batsman Ajinkya Rahane for 50 Lakhs. Apart from Rahane, CSK picked domestic uncapped players including Shaikh Rasheed, Nishant Sindhu, Ajay Mandal, and Bhagath Varma.

CSK Retained Players

Chennai Super Kings have once again displayed enormous faith in their most successful skipper MS Dhoni who is leading the contingent since its inception in 2008. Apart from Dhoni, CSK retained capped Indian players Rituraj Gaikwad, Ravindra Jadeja, Ambati Rayudu, Shivam Dube, and Deepak Chahar.

A range of prolific overseas talent was also retained by CSK that included Moeen Ali, Devon Conway, Dwaine Pretorius, Mitchell Santner, Matheesha Pathirana, and Maheesh Theekshana.

The uncapped retention from CSK included Rajvardhan Hangargekar, Subhranshu Senapati, Tushar Deshpande, Mukesh Chowdhary, Simarjeet Singh, and Prashant Solanki.

Notably, CSK’s released players also included some heavyweights including Dwayne Bravo, Chris Jordan, Adam Milne, N Jagdeeshan, KM Asif, Robin Uthappa and Hari Nishant.
