Asia Cup T20 may be the next on postponement list due to COVID-19.

Amidst all the chaos created due to Coronavirus Pandemic, everyone’s eye is on Asian Cup Council Meeting which will decide whether the prestigious Asia Cup T20 tournament will be postponed or not.

The ACC meeting has become the center of attraction when the BCCI President Sourav Ganguly said that team India would not travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup in September but they are willing to play against Pakistan at any other venue.

The outbreak of COVID-19 Pandemic has led the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) to postpone its meeting in which it will make a decision on the possible multiple venues for Asia Cup T20 which was earlier supposed to be hosted by Pakistan Cricket Board but due to the current political tensions between India and Pakistan, it is almost fixed that the tournament will be again conducted in the UAE.

The ACC meeting was scheduled to be held earlier this month but due to the COVID-19 outbreak the meeting was canceled and the committee hopes to conduct discussions on via Video Link just like ICC meeting which will now be conducted via Video Link.

The ACC meeting has become the center of attraction after BCCI President Sourav Ganguly said it clearly that India is willing to play against Pakistan in the Asia Cup T20 in any other venue around the globe but it will not travel to Pakistan to become a part of Asia Cup T20. The Asia Cup is scheduled to begin in September 2020.  Ganguly also cleared that BCCI has no objection to Pakistan hosting the Asia Cup at any venue except Pakistan.

Pakistan Cricket Board was also looking at the option of requesting the ACC executive board to give permission to host some matches of the Asia Cup T20 against other teams like Sri-Lanka, Bangladesh or Afghanistan in Pakistan even if it will decide to host the Tournament at any neutral venue.

Pakistan Cricket Board stand is that with International Cricket slowly coming back to Pakistan, the country will benefit by hosting few games of the Asia Cup at home, said a PCB source.

Let’s hope that we get the chance of witnessing the epic India Pakistan match in the Asia Cup T20 2020 which will commence in September 2020.
