Afghanistan to host Netherlands in Qatar for three match ODI series

Afghanistan will host the Netherlands in Qatar next year in January 2022 as a part of the OSI Super League series, the ACB confirmed on Wednesday 8th December. The three-match ODI series will kickstart on January 21 with the next two ODIs scheduled to be played on the 23rd & 25th of January.

“The three ODIs which are scheduled to be held in January are part of the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League which counts towards qualification for the ICC Men’s CWC 2023”, ACB said in its Official Statement.

All three matches will be hosted by the Asian Town Cricket Stadium in Doha. This will be Afghanistan’s second series under the Super League & their third series will be played in Zimbabwe from January to February. Currently, Afghanistan carries 30 points from the three-match ODI series they have played against Ireland earlier this year. The three-match ODI series against Ireland was also a part of the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League.

Afghanistan is scheduled to host Australia & Pakistan as part of the Super League apart from away assignments against India, Bangladesh & Sri Lanka. The top seven teams from the Super Cricket League apart from hosts India will gain automatic qualification for the World Cup in 2023.
