BCB announced a strong 20 man squad for their second test against Pakistan which is scheduled to commence on December 4. All-rounder Shakib-Al-Hasan & Taskin Ahmed have returned to the tets squad for the final test while opener Mohammad Naim Sheikh received his maiden call-up to the Test squad. Naim is the crucial inclusion to the Test squad. He has played 32 T20Is & two ODIs. He played the last of his six first-class matches in February 2020. Naim averages 16.63 in the format and has scored only one half-century.
Taskin Ahmed & Shakib-Al-Hasan were declared fit to feature in for the second test. Shakib-Al-Hasan failed to recover from his hamstring injury for the first test & thus was ruled out of the opening test against Pakistan.
On the other hand, Taskin had hurt his finger during the third T20I against Pakistan on November 22, due to which he was ruled out of the first Test which Bangladesh lost to Pakistan by eight wickets to hand Pakistan a 1-0 lead in the ongoing test series. Pakistan was successful in chasing down a target of 202 runs with captain Babar Azam and Azhar Ali leading the tourists to victory. Earlier excellent half-centuries by Abid Ali and Abdullah Shafique laid the foundation for Pakistan’s success during the first test.
After recovering from their respective injuries Taskin & Shakib will return to the Test squad for the final test against Pakistan. The final test of the series is slated to begin on December 4th, 2021. This is Bangladesh’s final chance to draw the series with a 1-1 score by winning the second test against Pakistan.
