BAN vs SL 2022: Nayeem Hasan doubtful for Sri Lanka’s Second Test

Bangladesh’s spate of injuries seems never-ending as they suffered another major setback with off-spinner Nayeem Hasan being doubtful for the second Test against Sri Lanka due to an injury. According to reports, Nayeem has fractured the middle finger of his right hand while fielding off his own bowling.

After sustaining the injury he was taken for scans & the results revealed that his finger was broken.

”I think he is unavailable in the second Test against Sri Lanka,” BCB selector Habibul Bashar confirmed to Cricbuzz on Thursday (May 19).

”Tomorrow we will have a better knowledge about the extent of his injury but we are informed that he has fractured his finger,” he said.

Nayeem who was lucky to make a cut to the Sri Lanka Test squad due to the injury to Mehidy Hasan was successful in scalping six wickets in the first innings of the first Test. However, before he could enjoy his comeback after a gap of 15 months he sustained this injury which ruled him out of action for at least two to three weeks.

Injuries Spate Continues to Haunt Bangladesh

Earlier today, Bangladesh suffered a major blow after their star player Shoriful Islam has been ruled out of the Sri Lanka Tests due to an injury to his right hand. Scans revealed that he sustained a fracture which ruled him out of action for the next four to five weeks. This means Shoriful is likely to remain unavailable for Bangladesh’s first Test against West Indies which is set to begin on June 16

Taskin Ahmed is likely to miss the West Indies tour as well. Earlier this month, Taskin consulted a specialist in London for his shoulder injury & is undergoing conservative treatment for the same. So the selectors are yet to decide whether Taskin will tour Bangladesh or not. Meanwhile, Mehidy Hasan is expected to get fit on time for the West Indies series.

Bangladesh will tour West Indies for two Test matches, three T20Is & three ODIs. The tour will commence on June 5 & will continue till mid-July.
