BAN vs WI 1st Test: West Indies utilized all their artillery to swap their opponents out of the first Test to take a crucial 1-0 lead in the two-match Test series. Riding on the back of stellar performances by Kemar Roach & Kraigg Braithwaite, West Indies sealed a seven-wicket win over Bangladesh at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua on Sunday.

It was West Indies day who outclassed Bangladesh in all departments to march ahead in the two-match Test series. Chasing a target of 84, West Indies lost their Captain Kraigg Brathwaite & Raymon Reifer for single-digit figures in the second over.  Adding to their concerns was the dismissal of Nkrumah Bonner who was dismissed in the third over to leave West Indies reeling at 91-3.

Then came John Campbell & Jermaine Blackwood on the crease who took the job into their hands & ensured that West Indies cross the line without any further loss of wickets. The duo ensured that their team achieved the target without any loss of wickets. Campbell & Blackwood finished the match by staying unbeaten at 58 & 26 respectively.

The match began with the hosts winning the toss & opting to bowl first. Batting first, Bangladesh’s innings were wrapped at 103 with captain Shakib-Al-Hasan (51) & Tamim Iqbal (29) being the lone fighters for visitors who showed some resistance & helepd Bangladesh to end on a triple-digit figure. Pacers Jaydean Seales (3-33) & Alzarri Joseph (3-33) starred with the ball for West Indies.

In the second innings, West Indies was bundled for 265-10 taking a 162 runs lead in the match. In the secodn innings too, Captain K Brathwaite (94) & Blackwood (63) played crucial knocks that helped their team to take a massive lead in the fixture.

Coming to the third innings, Bangladesh bounced back fearlessly as they were able to put 245-10 to take an 83 runs lead. Shakib-Al-Hasan (63), Nurul Hasan (64) & Mahmudual Hasan Joy (42) all chipped in with crucial runs but failed to get a massive lead for their side. The target of 84 runs proved to be a cakewalk for Bangladesh who chased it down with seven wickets to spare.
