BAN vs ZIM: Mosaddek Hossain to lead Bangladesh in the Decider T20I

BAN vs ZIM: All-rounder Mosaddek Hossain will lead the Bangladesh squad in the Third T20I against Zimbabwe after New T20I Captain Nurul Hasan was ruled out of the series after sustaining a fracture on his index finger during the second T20I at Harare on Sunday. Mahmudullah who is already with the Zimbabwe squad for the ODI series has been named as Nurul’s replacement in the T20I squad.

Mahmudulllah who was replaced by Nurul Hasan as the T20I captain for the series was a part of the senior group of players who were rested for the Zimbabwe tour. Bangladesh is without the services of their experienced players such as Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim, while Tamim Iqbal retired from the format in July.

Mosaddek who registered career-best figures of 5 for 20 in the second T20I against Zimbabwe has widespread experience in domestic cricket. He has led the Abahani team in white ball format 36 times since 2019 & has also captained the Sylhet Thunder franchise during the BPL 2019-20. Mosaddek has also led Bangladesh A squad in two matches & has led the team in six first-class matches for Barishal Division & Central Zone in domestic cricket.

BAN vs ZIM: Nurul Hasan fractured his Index Finger in the Second T20I

Nurul Hasan had fractured his left index finger while doing wicket-keeping against pacer Hasan Mahmud towards the end of the Zimbabwe innings in the second T20I. In the ongoing three-match T20I series against Zimbabwe, Bangladesh suffered a 17-run loss in the first T20I. However, the Tigers bounced back & won the second T20I by massive seven wickets. A specially curated five-wicket haul by Mosaddek Hossain in the first seven overs accompanied by a mighty half-century by Liton Das guided Bangladesh to a series-leveling win in the second T20I. With the series level at 1-1, Bangladesh will now face Zimbabwe in the third & final T20I on Tuesday at Harare.

After the completion of the T20I series, Zimbabwe & Bangladesh will lock horns in three ODIs on August 5, 7, and 10, all of them at the Harare Sports Club.
