Bangladesh vs Australia 5th T20I: Shakib-Al-Hasan starred as Bangladesh defeat Australia in the fifth T20I to clinch the series by 4-1

Bangladesh vs Australia 5th T20I: A stunning bowling performance by hosts helped them to beat Australia by 60 runs in the Bangladesh vs Australia 5th & final T20I here at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Monday. With this mind-blowing win, Bangladesh won the five-match T20I series by a 4-1 score.

Earlier, Australia had lost the T20I series against West Indies by the same score. Chasing a meager 123 runs target, Australia got off to a poor start as they lost five wickets in quick succession with 53 runs on board. Batsmen like Daniel Christan (3), Matthew Wade (22), Mitchell Marsh (4), Ben McDermott (17), & Alex Carey (3) al failed to create a difference with the bat.

No Australian batsmen could lead a fightback as the visitors were bundled out for 62 runs inside 14 overs. Earlier, Nathan Ellis & Dan Christan scalped two wickets each as Australia limited Bangladesh to a meager score of 122/8 in the allotted twenty overs. For windies, Naim top-scored by registering a knock of 23 runs with the help of one four & one six. No Bangaldesh batsmen were able to stay on the crease for a long time as a result hosts could score a below-the-par total of 123 runs.

The 4-1 series loss against Bangaldesh, marked Australia’s back-to-back tour losses as they have earlier suffered defeat by the same scores against West Indies. This series loss acts as a wake-up call for Australia’s lack of depth & options when it comes to the T20I format of cricket ahead of the T20 World Cup. The humiliating defeat of the Australian team in the T20I series against Bangaldesh will hurt their pride & honor. Australia hasn’t won any T20 World Cup yet & they have to do a lot of hard work if they aim at winning the upcoming T20 World Cup 2021.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh will head into the T20 World Cup qualifiers with their heads high after registering gleaming victories over Zimbabwe and Australia. The highlight of their spectacular series win is the fact that despite the absences of Tamim Iqbal, Liton Das and Mushfiqur Rahim Bangaldesh won the crucial series against Zimbabwe & Australia. This win will also act as their morale booster in the T20 World Cup 2021.
