“Both the teams will start evenly in the ODI series”, feels Dasun Shanaka

IND vs SL: Dasun Shanaka

IND vs SL: India will start the ODI series as favorites but Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka feels that the two teams are evenly equipped for the limited-overs series. India & Sr Lanka will come into a face-off in three ODIs & three T20Is starting from July 18 as per the revised schedule.

Dasun Shanaka said that the Indian team might have the experience of the IPL but some of its young talents lack international experience which makes both sides equal ahead of the ODI series. “Yeah, both the teams will start evenly in the ODI series because they got new players coming in. We know they have played IPL but they haven’t played international cricket so both the teams have even chances to win”, Shanaka said while responding to ANI’s query.

He further said that the experience of playing against India will be very useful for the hosts as the visitors are one of the top teams in the world. He also highlighted the fact that playing against India in the white ball series will help Sri Lanka to measure their current form in the game. Dasun Shanaka will lead Sri Lanka in the limited-overs series against India as SLC has confirmed that Kusul Perera will not be able to play in the series due to a shoulder sprain.

“It’s always challenging in International cricket the outside problems it all matters. But at the end of the day, we have to go & perform as a team & this is the main concern we all have”, said Shanaka. The Sri Lanka captain also said that at some point in time the hosts will have an edge over visitors since India has not played against most of the Sri Lankan players. “There is a slight advantage because they haven’t seen these players in International cricket, so I feel they have to prepare well for the newcomers”, said Shanaka.

The three ODIs will be played on July 18,20 & 23 & the three T20Is will be played on July 25, 27 & 29, respectively.
