Cricket Australia to host 100% crowd Capacity for the Ashes Tests

Cricket Australia on Wednesday confirmed that all the Ashes Tests will have 100% crowd capacity except for the Boxing Day Test at the MCG which will host an 85%, capacity crowd.

The 2021-2022 International Cricket season in Australia will be one of the biggest seasons with 59 days of the World’s best cricket to be played in Australia, featuring the inaugural test match between Afghanistan & Australia, the Men’s Ashes series, the Women’s Ashes against England, the multi-format women’s series versus India & the respective Men’s ODI & T20I matches against New Zealand & Sri Lanka.

All the matches will be sold to 100% of the crowd capacity except the Boxing day test at the MCG which will have 85% of crowd capacity. Tickets will be refunded if in the future any venue is required to reduce the crowd capacity due to the COVID-19.

“The 2021-2022 summer of International cricket promises to be one of the biggest ever. The anticipation around both the men’s & women’s Ashes is building, especially as we have witnessed some incredible test cricket in the UK. The Ashes rivalry is one of the biggest in the World Cricket, & we hope that conditions will allow as many fans as possible to attend”, said Nick Hockley in Cricket Australia Official Release.

Further Hockley expressed his excitement for hosting international cricket across 11 venues, seven states & territories, ensuring that fans from across the country have the chance to witness the World’s best players competing on the field.  He further said that Cricket Australia is working closely with governments & venues across Australia to ensure that all the contests are staged safely. He also thanked the government for extending their support to turn 2021-2022 summers into a successful international cricket season.

Further talking about ticket pricing Hockley said, “In the event that capacities are reduced due to government restrictions associated with the pandemic, we of course guarantee fans full refunds”. The Men’s Ashes contest is scheduled to begin on December 8th at the Gabba & the five-match series will conclude with the final test from January 14-18, 2022 at Perth.
