ENG vs IND, 1st Test: After sustaining a short session, England ended day three of the first test on 25/0 after KL Rahul & Ravindra Jadeja scored respective fifties to help India take a 95 runs lead on Friday.
Rory Burns(11*) & Dominic Siblings(9*) are unbeaten at the crease before rain played as a spoilsport & stopped the gameplay in Nottingham. England is still trailing by 70 runs in their second innings of day three.
Earlier in the first innings, India was bowled out for 278 runs after the last wicket scored 33 runs. Ollie Robinson scalped five wickets while James Anderson scalped four wickets to wrap up visitors’ innings. For India KL Rahul & Ravindra Jadeja scored half-centuries & bowlers, in the end, added some crucial runs as India took a crucial 95 runs lead in the first innings. Resuming day three, India suffered a setback as Rishabh Pant got dismissed in the 50th over. KL Rahul & Ravindra Jadeja stitched an unbeaten 46 runs partnership before players headed for lunch.
During the Innings, Jadeja surpassed the 2000 test runs mark by hitting a boundary. In the second session, James Anderson removed KL Rahul to overtake Anil Kumbe in the highest wicket-takers list in the test format of cricket. Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja scored his half-century & before he could reach his century, Stuart Broad sent him back to the pavilion. However, Jadeja proved his mettle by adding some crucial runs on India’s scoreboard & helped the visitors to extend their lead over 50 runs before getting dismissed.
Mohammed Shami & Jasprit Bumrah did their bit by adding some runs for India but Ollie Robinson removed Shami in the first over to reduce India to 245/9 & finally the visitors were bowled out for 278 runs.
