ENG vs IND 5th Test: The much-anticipated IND vs ENG 5th Test is just a few hours away from commencement & the hosts have announced the Playing XI for the much-anticipated Test. England have opted to go ahead with just one spinner Jack leach for the crucial Edgbaston Test. The fifth test will also mark the return of James Anderson who didn’t feature in the third Test against New Zealand. He will regain his spot from his replacement Jamie Overton.
Another change that England made in their Playing XI is the inclusion of Sam Billings in place of Ben Foakes who has been ruled out of the fifth Test after testing positive for COVID-19. Foakes had to pull out on the fourth day of the final Test against New Zealand after testing positive for COVID-19. As a result, Billings took the field during the final Test as a replacement for Foakes.
The Surrey wicket-keeper hasn’t recovered fully from COVID-19 which resulted in the inclusion of Billings in the Edgbaston Test squad as well. Meanwhile, Anderson who missed the third Test against New Zealand due to an ankle injury returns to the squad after recovering from it. The battle of Anderson & Virat Kohli would be the center of attraction for spectators.
India are currently leading the five-match Test series with a 2-1 score. The Edgbaston Test is a part of the five-match Test Series held in 2021 which was called off before the final Test after the outbreak of COVID-19 in the Indian Camp.
The fifth rescheduled Test will be played begin from July 1, Friday at Edgbaston, England. India would aim to clinch the series by registering a remarkable win while England would try their best to save the series by winning the fifth test.
