After wrapping up India’s innings for 78 runs, openers Rory Burns & Haseeb Hameed ensured that England dominates on the opening day of the ongoing ENG vs IND 3rd Test 2021 at Headingley, Leeds on Wednesday.
At Stump’s, England score reads 120/0 & the hosts have extended their lead to 42 runs. For England Burns 52* & Hameed 58* are unbeaten at the crease. England’s pacers displayed a stellar show with the ball & rattled India’s innings for 78 runs. After wrapping up India’s innings, England openers Rory Burns & Haseeb Hameed ensured that England gets off to a solid start. The duo faced the first 20 overs & managed to score 48 runs.
Both the batsmen managed to take Engalnd’s innings to the final session without losing a single wicket on opening day by keeping all ten wickets intact, extending their lead to 36 runs.
England pacers James Anderson, Ollie Robinson, Craig Overton & Sam Curran shattered India’s batting order to warp up their innings on 78. Anderson & Overton scalped three wickets each while Ollie Robinson & Sam Curran scalped two wickets each.
After resuming their innings at 56/4 after lunch, India got off to a poor start as Rishabh Pant (2) failed to get started & was sent back to the pavilion by Ollie Robinson. Then came Ravindra Jadeja to the middle. The short ball once again dismissed Rohit Sharma (19) & India was left reeling at 67/7. Mohammed Shami (0), Ravindra Jadeja (4), Jasprit Bumrah (0), & Mohammad Siraj (3) failed to create a mark with the bat & thus India’s innings was wrapped up for 78 runs inside 41 overs.
James Anderson starred with the ball for England after dismissing KL Rahul, Cheteshwar Pujara & Virat Kohli in the first innings on day one of the ongoing third Test at Headingley, Leeds on Wednesday.
Ollie Robinson struck in the opening session as he removed Ajinkya Rahane (18) on the verge of lunch break & India was left reeling at 56/4. At lunch break, India’s score read 56/4 with Rohit Sharma 15* staying unbeaten at the crease. In the first session on day one of the third test, India scored 56 runs from 25.5 overs.
Virat Kohli had won the toss & opted to bat first against England in the third test. India marched in the third test with an unchanged line-up. On the other hand, England made two changes to their line-up by including Dawid Malan & Craig Overton in the squad in place of Dom Sibley & Mark Wood.
