ENG vs IND 3rd Test 2021: Mark Wood ruled out due to a shoulder Injury

ENG vs IND 3rd Test 2021: The ECB on Monday confirmed that pacer Mark Wood has been ruled out of the upcoming third test against India due to a shoulder injury. “Wood has been ruled out with a jarred right shoulder”, the ECB said in an Official Statement.

Mark Wood sustained an injury on the fourth day of the second Test at Lord’s & thus will not be available for the third test starting on Wednesday. He will remain with England’s squad in Leeds & will continue his rehabilitation with the England medical team. Wood will be assessed at the end of the ENG vs IND 3rd Test 2021.

The first test against England ended in a draw but India made an incredible comeback to clinch the second test to take a 1-0 lead in the five-match test series.

Shedding some light on the second test, both India & England displayed an intense game on day five of the second test as players from both teams engaged in verbal fights & in the end it was team India who emerged victorious in a hard-fought second test.

Jasprit Bumrah & Mohammed Shami starred with both bat & ball & made the most of the opportunity to shine bright at Lord’s as India registered a 151 run stunner win over England in the second Test to take a much needed 1-0 lead in the ongoing five-match test series. After a stunning second win in the second test, India’s opening batsman KL Rahul said that if England engages in a verbal fight with India, then they know how to give it back.

Last week, England’s head coach Chris Silverwood has named a 15 member squad for the third test. Dawid Malan returned to the Test squad for the first time in three years. He has last made his test appearance in 2018 against India at Edgbaston. Lancashire pacer Sqaib Mahmood has also been included in the squad.
