ENG vs PAK 1st T20I: Liam Livingstone smashed the fastest T20I century by an England batsman but all his efforts went in vain as Pakistan registers a 31 runs nervy win over England in the first T20I match. With this stunning victory, Pakistan took a 1-0 lead in the ongoing T20I series. Livingstone hit nine sixes & six fours to brought up a scintillating total of 103 runs but Pakistan bowlers ran through their batting order to clinch a hard-fought win.
Shadab Khan turned the match in the favor of Pakistan by removing Lewis Gregory for 10 runs & Livingstone in the 17th over to leave England reeling at 183 runs for seven wickets down, almost 50 runs behind their target of 233 runs. England’s run chase got slow after Livingstone’s dismissal as hosts were all out for 201 runs with four balls to spare. Open Jason Roys who scored 32 runs off 13 balls is the only batsman after Livingstone who had troubled Pakistan bowlers as the rest of them failed to make a difference with the bat.
For Pakistan, Shaheen Afridi & Shadab Khan starred with the ball by scalping three wickets each. Earlier batting first, Pakistan post a mammoth 232 runs total for six wickets down in 20 overs. The total registered by Pakistan is the highest in T20Is as compared to their previous bets total of 205 runs which they had registered against South Africa earlier this year & previously against West Indies in 2018. Pakistan laid the foundation of 233 runs total with a brilliant 150 runs stand stitched between Babar Azam & Mohammad Rizwan.
Mohammed Rizwan smashed 63 runs off 41 balls & was caught by Lewis Gregory in the 15th over. While Babar scored breathtaking 85 runts off 49 balls in an innings decorated with eight fours & three sixes before falling prey to David Willey’s balling attack. Then came Mohammad Hafeez & Fakhar Zaman who carried the momentum by scoring 46 runs in just 16 balls. Hafeez played a knock of 24 runs off 10 balls with an innings decorated with three sixes & one four while Fakhar Zaman smashed three sixes & one four in his 26 runs knock.
Pakistan added a jaw-dropping 152 runs in the last 10 overs of the innings. For England, Sam Curran scalped 2 wickets for 47 runs on four overs. A whopping 27 sixes were hit in the first T20I & the second T20I of the innings will be played on Sunday at Headingley Leads.
