ENG vs PAK: What comes as a major blow for Pakistan is the news of Haris Sohail being ruled out of the England tour due to a hamstring injury. The MRI conducted on Haris revealed that he suffered a grade three tear injury which he encountered during a training session in Derby last week.
The PCB’s medical panel has examined the batsman & advised him to undergo a four-week rehabilitation program before a reassessment is carried out. So Haris who was stated to be a part of the ODI series against England will return back to Paksitan. He will undergo a rehabilitation program at the National Performance Center in Lahore. Speaking about the injury, Haris Sohail said, “I was keenly looking forward to playing the ODIs as a part of my objective to contribute to the team’s success & also cement my position in the National team”.
“In this background, I am really disappointed that my tour has been cut short, but I will return to Lahore & undergo a rehabilitation program so that I can fully recover for the 2021-2022 season”, added Sohail.
The three-match ODI series between Pakistan & England be played from July 8th to July 13th followed by a three-match T20I series which will be played from July 16th to July 20. After the completion of the England tour, Pakistan will leave for West Indies on July 21 where they will play five T20Is & two tets matches from July 27 to August 24.
Meanwhile, the ECB on Tuesday reported that 7 members of England’s ODI squad have tested positive for COVID-19 & thus the entire squad had to undergo isolation as per the guidelines on quarantine set by the UK Government. However, the news didn’t impact the England vs Pakistan ODI series as ECB has announced that the ODI series will commence as per the schedule. ECB also named a new 18 man strong squad for the ODI series against Pakistan.
Ben Stokes will head the ODI squad while Chris Silverwood who had been due to take some time away during the limited-overs series returns as Heach Coach. Around nine uncapped players have been named in the second string of England’s ODI squad.
