England Captain Joe Root & India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has moved up in the ICC Test Rankings after displaying spectacular performances in the opening match of the International Cricket Council WTC 2021-2023 cycle at Trent Bridge.
Joe Root who grabbed the top spot in the past has overtaken Virat Kohli on the fourth spot in the batters list after he displayed stunning performance in both the innings of the first test by scoring 64 & 109 runs that earned him 49 rating points. Jasprit Bumrah who returned back to form in the first test earned 10 points to grab a spot in the top 10 on the bowlers’ list by registering a nine-wicket haul for 110 runs. Jasprit Bumrah who was initially in the third position in September 2018 is now at ninth position in the ICC Test Rankings.
Pacers James Anderson moved up by one place to seventh spot & Ollie Robinson advanced by 22 places to 46th position while Shardul Thakur moved up by 19 places to 55th position. The trio has gained in the latest ICC men’s weekly test rankings updates, carried out on Wednesday. Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has advanced three slots to 36th position among batters after registering a half-century in the first innings & opener Lokesh Rahul has re-entered the ICC Test Rankings list by sealing 56th position by scoring 84 & 26 runs. England’s opener Dominic Sibley advanced by four places to 52nd position.
In the ICC Men’s T20I Player Rankings, Bangladesh’s Shakib-Al-Hasan has reclaimed the top spot among the all-rounders rankings list having last reached that position in 2017. He has moved up by three spots to reach 53rd position among batters & has advanced by six spots to reach 12th position among bowlers Rankings list. Captain Mahmudullah gained two slots to reach the 33rd position on the Rankings List.
Fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman has regained a spot in the top 10, after gaining 20 slots & scalping five wickets in four matches while Mohammad Saifuddin moved up by 26 places to reach 43rd position & Nasum Ahmed moved up by 103 places to reach 66th position in the ICC T20I rankings.
Australia all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has gained four slots to reach 21st position among batters after amassing 111 runs in the last four matches of the five-match T20I series against Bangladesh, played over the last week. Left-arm spinner Ashton Agar has gained one slot to reach seventh place among bowlers Rankings while pacer Josh Hazlewood moved up by 43 places to reach 34th position.
