India Opener batsman Rohit Sharma’s name has been inscribed on “the Oval” honors board after registering his maiden overseas century in the second innings of the ongoing IND vs ENG 4th Test 2021 at the Oval Cricket Stadium.
The Official Twitter handle of the BCCI has posted the pictures of the Oval honors board where Rohit Sharma’s name has been inscribed on Sunday. “Inscribed at The Oval Honours Board – @ImRo45 👏 #TeamIndia”, the post read.
Rohit Sharma finally ended his long wait on Saturday by registering his maiden overseas century. The stunning Indian opener batsman showed extraordinary patience throughout his knock & brought up his century by hitting a massive six off Moeen Ali’s delivery.
Riding on the back of a stunning 256 ball 127 run knock, Rohit Sharma has joined the list of Indian batsmen who have scored a swashbuckling ton at the iconic Kennington Oval. With his stunning ton, Rohit also became the 9th Indian batsman to put up a three-figure score at the historic venue, joining the elite list of Indian batsmen which includes big players like Vijay Merchant, Sunil Gavaskar, Ravi Shastri, Kapil Dev, Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble, KL Rahul, and Rishabh Pant. Dravid is the only Indian batsman to have smashed two hundred at The Oval.
Rohit’s stunning partnership with KL Rahul (46) & Cheteshwar Pujara (61) helped India to overcome the 99 run deficit & provided a solid platform for the rest of the Indian batsmen to take a lead of their own. Rohit was dismissed after scoring 127 runs. After the dismissal of Rohit, India lost their next four wickets for 76 runs which included the prized wicket of Virat Kohli (44). The ongoing 70 run stand between Shardul Thakur & Rishabh Pant is leading India to a mammoth 300+ lead in the afternoon session of Day 4 in the ongoing IND vs ENG 4th Test 2021.
