Vasudev Paranjape enjoyed an illustrious career in the field of cricket. Vasudev Paranjapaye passed away at his Mumbai residence on Monday due to an age-related illness. He played 29 first class matches for Mumbai & Baroda from 1956/57-1969/70, making 785 runs with two centuries and two half-centuries including a career-best score of 127 against Baroda in the 1964 edition of the Ranji Trophy.
Paranjape left a lasting impression in his role as Coach & mentor. He played a crucial role in shaping the careers of plenty of great Indian cricketers. He was regarded as the ‘modern Dronacharya’ who coached four generations of Indian cricketers. From the legendary Sunil Gavaskar to Dilip Vengsarkar, Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar, Yuvraj Singh, and Rohit Sharma, Vasudev Paranjape played a stellar role in shaping the careers of four generations of Indian cricket. He used his man-management skills to shape the career of various renowned cricketers.
Paranjape was appointed as the Director of Coaching in the ‘80s’ by the BCCI & was a head coach of camps for junior cricketers. He was also among the first set of coaches when the National Cricket Academy was inaugurated in 2000. Since his unfortunate death, tributes have poured in from the former as well as current Indian cricketers.
Coming back to the IND vs ENG 4th Test 2021, Joe Root won the toss & opted to bowl first at the Oval Cricket Ground on Thursday. Tema India has made two changes to their Playing XI, they have included Shardul Thakur & Umesh Yadav in the squad while Ishant Sharma & Mohammed Shami has been rested from the fourth test match. Ravichandran Ashwin hasn’t palyed any of the four tests against England & his omission has been a huge talking point across the cricket fraternity.
