IND vs ENG: Jasprit Bumrah, Rohit Sharma & Shami achieves remarkable feats in first ODI

 

IND vs ENG: Jasprit Bumrah, Rohit Sharma & Mohammed Shami achieved desirable milestones during the first ODI against England on Tuesday at Kennington, Oval. Coming to Boom-Boom, after guiding India to a massive 10 wickets win, Bumrah became the first Indian pacer to scalp six wickets in an ODI match in England.

Jasprit Bumrah achieved this remarkable feat during ythe ongoing first ODI of the three-match ODI series against England on Tuesday where he returned with career-best figures of 6-19. With this record, Bumrah recorded the third best figures by an Indian bowler in an ODI amtch. The list of Indian bowlers returning with the best figures is dominated by Stuart Binny- 6/4 against Bangladesh in 2014, followed by Anil Kumble 6-12 against West Indies in 1993.

Mohammed Shami & Captain Rohit Sharma are the other two Indian players who have special feats in the first ODI against England. Shami became the fastest Indian pacer to register 150 ODI wickets. He took a total of 80 matches to reach this remarkable feat & surpass the record of former Indian pacer Ajit Agarkar who took 97 matches to reach the milestone. He also became the joint third fastest pacer to register 150 ODI wickets along with Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan. Australia’s Mitchell Starc (77matches) & Pakistan’s Saqlain Mushtaq (78 matches) are the top two bowlers to record the fastest 150 ODI wickets.

The first ODI truned out to be special for Rohit Sharma as well who became the first Indian to smash 250 sixes in the ODI format. Rohit played a blistering knock of 76 off 58 balls, in an innings embellished with seven fours & five sixes. Rohit achieved the milestone after hitting a six off pacer Brydon Carse’s delivery in the 19th over. Now Rohit has the fourth highest number of sixes in ODIs, behind Sanath Jayasuriya (270), Chris Gayle (331) & Shahid Afridi (351),

The first ODI against England turned out to be special & memorable for the Indian cricket team as they were able to beat England with such a huge margin in an ODI match in tehri own backyard. Bumrah’s blistering figures of 6-19 accompanied by Rohit- Dhawan’s 110-run stand helepd India beat England by huge 10 wickets & atke a 1-0 lead in the series.

England would now hope to come back roaring in the second ODI on Thursday & took the revenge for a humiliating defeat from the Indian team. While the Indian team would aim to extend their lead & clinch the series, which team will get successful in their motive is what time will say.
