IND vs ENG: Finally, some good news comes in for team India as the wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant has joined the team on Thursday after recovering from COVID-19. Pant was slated to undergo COVID-19 & cardiac tests on Monday as he has completed his mandatory 10 days of isolation as per the UK guidelines.
On testing negative for COVID-19 Rishabh Pant joined the team on Thursday. Earlier Rishabh Pant tested positive for the deadly virus during the team’s 20 days break post the WTC final against New Zealand in Southampton. “Hello, @RishabhPant17 great to have you back #TeamIndia”, BCCI tweeted with a photo of Rishabh Pant.
Rishabh Pant had not stayed in the team hotel during the 20 days break period & had tested positive for COVID-19 on July 8. He was asymptomatic & was in isolation. During isolation, he was closely monitored by the BCCI medical team & was recovering fast from COVID-19.
Earlier informing about Rishabh’s recovery the BCCI said in a statement, “He will be able to join the squad in Durham after returning two negative RT-PCR tests”. The BCCI medical team had also identified that Bharat Arun, Wriddhiman Saha & Abhimanyu Easwaran as close contacts of Dayanand Garani who had tested positive for COVID-19 following RT-PCR tests on July 14.
The four members of the Indian contingent are currently undergoing 10 days of isolation & will remain in their rooms in the team hotel in London. According to the reports, the quarantine period of Bharat Arun, Wriddhiman Saha & Abhimanyu Easwaran will end by 24th July & they can rejoin the team after clearing their RT-PCR tests.
The entire Indian contingent including traveling family members & caretakers were provided with the second dose of COVID-19 vaccine earlier in July in London. To reduce further risks, the Indian contingent is undergoing lateral flow tests on a daily basis.
On Tuesday Indian team suffered another setback, as fast bowler Avesh Khan sustained a blow to his left thumb on day one of the ongoing practice match. Currently, Avesh Khan is under observation & BCCI’s medical team is monitoring him.
