IND vs ENG: There comes good news for the injury-hit Indian team in England. Prithvi Shaw & Suryakumar Yadav are all set to join the Indian team in the UK.
According to the sources, the National selectors & the BCCI have agreed on Indian team management’s request of providing replacements for injured players for their upcoming test series against England. India has decided to support the injury-hit Indian team in the UK as Shubman Gill, Washington Sundar and Avesh Khan have been ruled out of the test series.
Shubman Gill was ruled out after the WTC Final last month after suffering from a stress injury to his shins. In fact, he has been sent back to India while Avesh & Sundar suffered finger injuries while playing against the Indian team in a three-day warm-up match that ended on Thursday. Avesh & Sundar will also return back to India.
The names of Suryakumar Yadav & Prithvi Shaw were recommended by the Chetan Sharma-led selection committee after a discussion with Head Coach Ravi Shastri. A request for a third player as a supplement was also made but there is no confirmation if the third player will be sent to England.
It is still not confirmed how & from where Suryakumar Yadav & Shaw will travel to England. Both the players are currently on a Sri Lanka tour with the Shikhar Dhawan-led white-ball team. The duo will complete the entire Sri Lanka leg & will then travel to England to support the Indian contingent in the test series. Not many players of India’s limited-overs team in Sri Lanka are aware of this news till Saturday morning. Queries to the BCCI officials regarding Suryakumar & Shaw’s travel to the UK have still remained unanswered. As per the reports, the logistical arrangements are planning to transport the duo to the UK.
