The countdown for the start of the IND vs ENG test series has begun & team India is leaving no stones unturned to gear up their preparations ahead of the test series.

Recently team India was seen undertaking a unique catching practice drill in order to improve their focus & fasten up their reaction to impulsive catches that often result in slips in tests. The BCCI shared the video of team India’s practice session & captioned it as, “Fun Practice Laughter DO NOT MISS as @ImRo45’s unique game leaves #TeamIndia in splits – by @RajalArora”

In the video, Rohit Sharma is seen explaining the concept of the fun drill session to the teammates. The squad was divided into two teams, fielding coach R Sridhar was asked to hit a tennis ball in the air with a player of one of the teams trying to get under the ball & bounce it off his helmet. The teammates of that player had to surround him & catch the ball off the bounce.

This practice session was undertaken to improve the concentration level of the players who have to chase the ball which goes high in the air during the matches. The immediate diversion of the ball after hitting the helmet was aimed to improvise players’ reflexes that they have to face while fielding at the slips.

Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane & Rishabh Pant also participated in the unfilled drill session. To make the session more engaging, Virat invited the support staff to join the players in the session. Rohit Sharma took on the duty of tossing the tennis ball for these rounds.

After the activity, Vikram Rathour said, “We were all seeing that it was a lot of fun. So I thought it would be a good idea if support staff also participated and we did. They were all very supportive and we even saw Paaji coming in and trying his best. So, good fun, great game to start the day with.”

Rohit Sharma also shared his views on the fun drill session. He said that the whole idea was to get every team member involved to start the training sessions for the day. Meanwhile, India will come into a face-off with England in the five-match test series starting from 4th August in Nottingham.
