IND vs NZ 1st Test, Day 2: New Zealand openers led a befitting fightback to help the Black Caps have an edge over the host on day 2 of the first test at Green Park stadium in Kanpur. Gleaming half-centuries from openers Young & Latham helped New Zealand to show the hosts that they are not the clan to be taken for granted.

At stumps on day 2, New Zealand’s score read 129/0 with Young 75* & Latham 50* currently staying unbeaten at the crease. The visitors are trailing by 216 runs. Resuming the third session of Fay 2 form 72/0, New Zealand continued their domination over the Indian bowlers as Young brought up his half-century in 28th over while Latham reached his glittering fifty in the 55th over.

There were few turning points in the clash but Young & Latham ensured that they nullifies the hosts’ bowling attack completely. Earlier on Day 2, New Zealand bundled India for 345 in the first innings. The hosts ended their opening session at 339/8 with Ashwin & Umesh Yadav staying unbeaten on 38 & 4 respectively. However, New Zeaalnd bounced back strongly during the secodn innings & wrapped up India’s innings as Ajaz Patel dismissed Ashwin & Ishant to bundle out India for 345 at the Green Park Stadium.

Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer smashed his maiden test century on Day 2 to become the 30th Indian to register a century on his test debut.

Shreyas Iyer also became the 16th Indian to smash a test century on his debut & the sixth batsman from India to achieve the remarkable feat since 2000
