IND vs SA 2021, ODI Series: India look to take revenge of its test series defeat, all eyes will be on Virat Kohli “the batter”.

IND vs SA 2021, ODI Series: The Indian team will look to bounce back from the humiliating test series defeat when they will come into a face-off with South Africa in a three-match ODI series starting on Wednesday in Paarl. On their previous tour, India smashed South Africa for 5-1 in ODIs & will draw confidence from their previous victory when they will face South Africa in the first ODI in Paarl.

Virat Kohli the “batter” will be observed keenly as he takes the field as a batter for the first time in seven years. Whether Virat Kohli will be able to bat freely after ditching the cares of captaincy is a wait & watch thing.  The eyes will also be on KL Rahul who will be leading the ODI team in the absence of Rohit Sharma who has been ruled out of the series due to a hamstring injury.

India will look ahead to win the series keeping in view the preparations for the 2023 World Cup. The other reason why India would aim to win the ODI series is to make up for the disappointment of losing the test series last week. The conditions at Paarl are batter friendly which means that the first ODI on Wednesday could be a high-scoring affair.

Though these series scores do not carry World Cup Super League (WCSL) points, the Indian team will look ahead to win the series as it will act as their build-up to the 2023 cricket World Cup which will be hosted by India.

“We have sat down as a team and had an honest talk about what are the things we can improve and what we can get better at. Everyone is committed to it. We have the World Cup in mind and we have a process we have all decided to follow,” Rahul said.

“All these games become really important for us to go out there and try and grow as a team, and do all the things that we spoke about. We won’t be a team that is scared to try a few things because our focus is on the World Cup and to try and get the best team out on the park.”

IND vs SA 2021, ODI Series: South Africa aims to continue the winning momentum in the ODI series

South Africa will look to continue their momentum from the memorable test series win while heading into the ODI format. The host’s star all-rounder De Kock who has retired from test cricket after the first test will head into this clash as a white ball player only. Captain Temba Bavuma who had displayed stunning performances in the recently concluded test series will aim to carry that confidence while heading into the ODI series.

Meanwhile, South Africa has released Kagiso Rabada from the ODI squad to manage his workload & added George Linde in his place. The left-arm pacer Marco Jansen who has displayed stellar bowling performance in the test series is expected to create havoc for the Indian batsmen on the field with his extra bounce & variation.

Rabada & Jansen together bowled more than 100 overs in the recently concluded test series. Lungi Ngidi who has bowled 83.4 overs in the tests will feature in the Playing XI against India. Jasprit Bumrah, the only India bowler in the ODI squad who topped 100 overs in the Tests, seems unlikely to be given a break – because he is the highest-ranked bowler in either squad at No. 7

Earlier, South Africa have won only three out of eight ODIs since their series in India in march 2020 suffered a washout in the first ODI at Dharamsala while the other two ODIs were postponed due to COVID-19. Also since then, India won five of their nine games in the format. Considering the stats, the Indian team will look ahead to continue their dominance in the ODI format while South Africa will aim to wind up the tour on a high note by clinching the ODI series as well. And for fans, some thrilling power-packed cricket is on cards.
