Ashes 2021-2022 2nd test: Jhye Richardson’s five-wicket haul in the second innings of the Adelaide test helped the hosts to beat England by massive 275 runs in the second test of the Ashes series at the Adelaide Oval on Monday.
With this astounding win, Australia has gained a 2-0 lead in the ongoing five-match Ashes series. The Boxing Day test is all set to begin on December 26 at the MCG. Resuming the final session on Day 5 at 108/8 England suffered a major setback as Jhye Richardson dismissed Jost Buttler for 26. Jos Buttler’s 207 balls 26 run stand came to a tragic end as he was dismissed by hit wicket.
The final wicket of James Anderson was scalped by Jhye Richardson & Australia registered a glorious win in the Adelaide Test. Earlier at tea on Day 5 England’s scoreboard read 108/8 with England requiring 288 more runs to win the secodn test. In the second session on Monday, Australia scalped two wickets to move closer to victory. Chris Woakes was caught by Jhye Richardson while Ollie Robinson was dismissed at the cusp of tea.
Earlier in the first session, England lost the crucial wicket of Ben Strokes & Ollie Pope but Chris Woakes & Jos Buttler kept England’s winning hopes alive by dragging Engalnd’s innings to dinner break. Resuming day five England got off to a poor start by losing two of their blistering batsmen right in the first session of day five. However, Buttler & Woakes bounced back & fought till their last breath. On Sunday, Travis Head Marnus Labuschagne & Jhye Richardson took full control of England’s innings by producing a lethal show with the ball & helepd the hosts to take a crucial 2-0 lead by winning the pink ball test.
