IND vs SA 2021, 1st test, Live Updates: Day 2 of the ongoing first Test between India & South Africa was called off due to consistent rain on Monday at the SuperSport Park Centurion.
Earlier the start of play was delayed due to continuous rain & day two of the first test had to be called off without even a single ball being bowled.
“Unfortunately due to the large volume of rain today at Centurion the play has been called off for the day”, BCCI tweeted.
Virat Kohli’s team had a great session on Day 1 of the first test against South Africa at the SuperSport Park with India’s score reading 272/3 at stumps. KL Rahul 122* & Ajinkya Rahane 40* are currently unbeaten at the crease & India was hoping to continue their dominance with the bat on Day 2. Mayank Agarwal scored 60 runs & stitched a stunning 117 runs stand with KL Rahul. Captain Kohli too was looking in good form at the crease but his aim of registering a ton didn’t turn into a reality as he lost his wicket to Lungi Ngidi for 35 runs.
“It is truly special every ton really takes something out of you & gives you joy. There are so many emotions you go through when you score a century. You bat for 6-7 hours, those are the kind of innings that stand out & as players we really cherish these. This is what is expected out of me. Once I got off to a good start, I started enjoying my batting & I did not think too far ahead”, KL Rahul said on BCCI.tv.
“Preparation has been really good all the batters that batted on Day 1 were really focused. I just try to stay in the moment when I am out there in the middle. I have surprised myself with how calm I have been, my focus has always been to stay in the moment & react to the ball that is bowled. Really happy that I could finish the day on a good day”, concluded KL Rahul after Day one’s gameplay.
