IND vs SA 4th T20I: The ‘Men in Blue’ finally saved the series by registering a massive 82 runs win over South Africa in the fourth T20I at the Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA) Stadium in Rajkot on Friday night. The match unfolded with South Africa winning the toss & opting to bowl first. Batting first India was able to score a decent 169 runs total on board.
Indian team started their innings on a poor note as they lost wickets at regular intervals. Soon India was trembling at 40 for three after 6.1 overs. Their key players, Gaikwad (5), Ishan Kishan (27), and Shreyas Iyer (4) all failed to leave an impression with the bat. Hosts’ innings were going off-track & they needed a stable partnership to resurrect their submerging Innings. Skipper Rishabh Pant then joined hands with Hardik Pandya to do the rebuilding work for India. However, soon their flourishing stand was broken as Pant got dismissed after scoring 23 runs off 17 balls.
India was struggling at 81-4 after the completion of 12.5 overs & was in need of crucial runs to post a good total on board. Dinesh Karthik took the field & momentum changed drastically in favor of India. He had a plan for Proteas’ fierce pace attack & executed it well by smashing them all across the park. Dinesh Karthik together with Hardik Pandya stitched a 65-run stand for the fifth wicket. Hardik smashed 46 runs off 31 balls in an innings embellished with three fours & three sixes while Karthik played a splendid knock of 55 runs off 27 balls smashing nine boundaries and two sixes. It was their combined efforts that helped India to end on 169 for six in the allotted 20 overs. For South Africa, the best bowler was Lungi Ngidi (2-20).
IND vs SA 4th T20I: Proteas succumbs to India’s on-point Pace Attack
In chase of 170 runs, South Africa has a disastrous start as they lost early wickets in the powerplay overs. Captain Temba Bavuma retired hurt in the third over of their innings with just 20 runs on board. Wickets kept falling at regular intervals with South Africa already struggling at 26 for two.
Their middle-order tried to revive their innings but failed to do so as they succumbed in front of India’s lethal pace attack. The likes of Rassie van der Dussen, Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller all failed to hit the straps. As a result, South Africa ended their innings at 87 for 9 in 16.5 overs. For India, Avesh Khan starred with the bowl as he scalped 4 wickets conceding 18 runs. Chahal too contributed by returning with two wickets for 21 runs. The fifth and final T20I will be played on Sunday at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
