IND vs SL: India’s white-ball series vice-captain Bhuvneshwar Kumar feels that the young talents in the squad will utilize their IPL 2021 experience in the upcoming limited-overs series against Sri Lanka.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar said that the young players’ IPL experience will boost their confidence in the upcoming Sri Lanka series. He is quite confident that the young guns will utilize their IPL experience to perform well & make a difference in the white ball tour against Sri Lanka.
“We have good players & they have experience of IPL, they are young but they have experience of IPL, playing T20 for so many years & they have done well for their teams”, Bhuvneshwar said on Star Sports show Follow the Blues.
“So it will be beneficial for the team that they will carry the confidence of IPL & they are young & talented, there is a good mix with the experienced players & this will be a good tour”, he added. The year 2020 was not less than a roller coaster ride for Bhuvneshwar Kumar. As he frequently got injured before making a comeback for the national team in the limited-overs series against England in March this year.
Bhuvneshwar also shared about his recovery journey & revealed that he played domestic cricket prior to England series to get back in the groove. “When I was almost recovered, domestic cricket was going on as well. So my focus was to get fit & make a comeback & then I started the preparation for the England series”, said Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka cricketers who were serving a quarantine period came out of the mandatory quarantine on Sunday after returning negative in the latest RT-PCR Tests. As per a report on ESPNcricinfo, for now, only the players will be allowed to come out of isolation for now. While coaches & other members of the support staff will come out of isolation until Wednesday.
The Sri Lanka team will now get some time to prepare for the limited-overs series against India which is rescheduled for July 18. The hosts will be using the facilities at Khettarama stadium, while the team India will train at the Sinhalese Sports Club as per the report. Shikhar Dhawan is leading India’s white-ball team while Bhuvneshwar Kumar is the vice-captain of India’s limited-overs squad.
