IND W vs ENG W: Captain Mithali Raj has highlighted the need for an improvement in India’s pace bowling attack after India women faced a massive defeat against England women in the first ODI. However senior pacer Jhulan Goswami supported India’s fast bowlers & said that they will surely make a comeback just require a little bit of time.

England women outclass India Women in the first ODI match in Bristol by huge 8 wickets. Though Mithali Raj registered a blistering knock of 72 runs off 108 balls. India women could score just 201 runs on board in 50 overs. While Jhulan scalped an early wicket of Lauren Winfield hill for 16 runs, none of the other pacers could get an edge over England’s batters.

Captain Heather Knight got out on Ekta Bisht’s delivery for 18 runs but Tammy Beaumont’s unbeaten 87 & Natalie Sciver’s unbeaten 74 helped the England women to chase the 202 runs target in just 34.5 overs. India played with 3 pacers Khulan Goswami, Shikha Pandey, and Pooja Vastrakar. While Jhulan Goswami bowled 6 overs, Pandey and Vastrakar bowled only 9 overs & went wicketless while conceding runs at 5.5 per over.

“Both of our medium pacers like Shikha Pandey, Pooja Vastrakar, and we have another two pacers in the side, all of them are good cricketers. Shikha is coming back from a break, she was not there in our last series. Pooja is playing after a long time, they need a little time, they will do well,” Jhulan Goswami said on the eve of the 2nd ODI which will be played in Taunton.

“They have already proved that they are quality bowlers, they have single-handedly won the matches for India. You just need to give them a little bit of time, they will come back strongly. I have full confidence in them,” she added.

Jhulan further highlighted the fact that as a bowling unit, India’s women need to make a comeback as a bowling unit. She rightly said that as an individual they cannot achieve big milestones & they need to come out collectively as a bowling unit. She further ensured the fans that India’s pacers will make a comeback & perform well in the IND W vs ENG W 2nd ODI.

India clinched a hard-fought draw in the one-off test against England women but faced a loss in the first ODI. India women have to win the 2nd ODI against England women to level the series by 1-1. The England women would be looking to take an unassailable lead in the three-match ODI series by winning the second ODI.
