England fast bowler James Anderson became the third-highest wicket-taker in test cricket during the ongoing first test match against India. Anderson achieved the remarkable feat when he dismissed KL Rahul in the first innings on Day three of the first test match.
England’s pacer dismissed KL Rahul to surpass Indian Captain Anil Kumble’s tally of 619 test wickets. Former Sri Lanka Spinner Muttiah Muralitharan & Spin legend Shane Warne are the top two highest wicket-takers in the test cricket with 800 & 798 wickets under their belt.
Earlier in the first session on day three, James Anderson removed Rishabh Pant but Ravindra Jadeja & KL Rahul steadied India’s innings as India went for lunch by taking a lead in the first innings. However, India lost seven wickets after surpassing 200 runs mark. James Anderson struck & removed KL Rahul followed by Shardul Thakur.
Resuming day three India suffered a setback as they lost Rishabh pant right in the 50th over. But thanks to KL Rahul & Ravindra Jadeja who stitched an unbeaten 46 runs stand to help visitors take a lead before both the teams headed to the lunch. During his innings, Ravindra Jadeja surpassed the 2000 test runs mark by hitting a stunning boundary.
Earlier on Day two England had an edge over India as the momentum of the game shifted towards England after they made a comeback in the second session by scalping crucial wickets of visitors. . India was 125/4 with KL Rahul & Rishabh Pant playing at the crease before an early stump was called due to rain.
