James Anderson scalped 1000th first class wickets

England’s star pacer James Anderson scalped his 1000th wicket in first-class cricket. The pacer achieved this remarkable milestone in the ongoing County Game against kent, he was playing for the Lancashire County club at Emirates Old Trafford.

James Anderson removed Zak Crawley, Jordon Cox, Oliver Robinson, Jack Leaning, Heino Kuhn, Matt Milnes, and Harry Podmore as Kent was restricted to 34/8 in the first innings of the game. By dismissing Kuhn, Anderson registered his 1000th wicket in first-class cricket.

Back in June, James Anderson added another accolade under his belt by surpassing former captain Alastair Cook to become England’s most-capped cricketer in the test format. James achieved this feat in the second test against New Zealand at Edgbaston. Anderson has played 162 test matches for England while Alastair Cook has played 161 matches in the longest format of cricket.

England’s fierce pacer, Stuart Broad is third on the list of capped test cricketers by playing 147 tests for England while former cricketer Alec Stewart occupies the fourth spot on the list by playing 133 games in the test format of cricket. James Anderson is the only bowler who has scalped more than 600 wickets in test cricket. He has 617 test wickets registered under his name.

James Anderson had revealed that he wasn’t confident if he was good enough to play International Cricket when he started his international career in May 2003. He played his first international match against Zimbabwe at the Lord’s stadium.

“I thought I wasn’t good enough. I thought it was a huge step up from county cricket. I remember Nasser [Hussain] didn’t have a fine leg for me and I went for quite a few runs. My first ball was a no-ball as well so there were a lot of nerves there and I did feel like this was maybe a step too far for me at that point,” James Anderson said as reported by ESPNcricinfo.
