Mushfiqur Rahim will miss the remaining Zimbabwe tour due to personal reasons. This shocking news came just a day after the reports claiming Mushfiqur to be available for the T20I series surfed the Internet.
According to the reports, Mushfiqur Rahim will miss the entire limited-overs series against Zimbabwe. A BCB statement in this regard informed, “Bangladesh batsman Mushfiqur Rahim will miss the remainder of the tour in Zimbabwe for family reasons. Mushfiqur will leave Harare later today and travel to Dhaka… The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) requests that all respect the privacy of Mushfiqur and his family at this time.”
Bangladesh has won the one-off test against Zimbabwe by 220 runs. Bangladesh will now lock horns with Zimbabwe in the three-match ODI series which will be held between 16th July & 20th July. The ODI series will be followed by three T20Is which are slated to be played on 23, 25, and 27th July 2021.
After the end of the Zimbabwe leg, Bangladesh is scheduled to play a five-match T20I series against Australia commencing from 2nd August 2021. Bangladesh is slated to host Australia for a five-match T20Is series starting from August & both the teams are expected to arrive & join the bio-bubble on July 29. Australia is currently busy in the limited-overs series against West Indies. They have lost five-match T20I series by 3-0 with two matches still left to be played.
Also, talks are going on the postponement of the Australia Bangladesh series due to a sudden rise in the COVID-19 cases in Bangladesh. Currently, Bangladesh is under strict lockdown & whether the series would be conducted as per the schedule is a ‘wait & watch’ thing.
