IND vs NZ 1st Test Day 5: KS Baharat to do wicket-keeping as Wriddhiman Saha suffers stiff neck

Wriddhiman Saha felt stiffness in his neck while doing wicket-keeping in the IND vs NZ 1st test during New Zealand’s second innings & thus he will not take the field on Day 5. In Saha’s absence, KS Bharat will do wicket-keeping for the country.

“Wriddhiman Saha felt stiffness in his neck while doing wicket-keeping in the second innings. It was affecting his movement while doing wicket-keeping. KS Bharat will keep wickets in his absence on day 5”, BCCI tweeted.

Coming back to the ongoing IND vs NZ 1st test, hosts found themselves in the driver’s seat after debutant Shreyas Iyer & Wriddhiman Saha showed great grit & determination with the bat to help India fight back against New Zealand on Day 4 of the first test at Green Park, Kanpur on Sunday.

On the verge of stumps, India declared their second innings at 234/7 & handed New Zealand a target of 284 runs to clinch the match. For hosts, Wriddhiman Saha & Axar Patel remained unbeaten with 61* & 28*. At stumps, New Zealand’s score read 4/1 with Tom Latham 2* & William Somerville 0* staying unbeaten at the crease.

IND vs NZ 1st Test Day 5 Live Updates:

Tom Latham & William Somerville played a perfect knock as the Black Caps went into lunch on the final day of the opening test against India without losing even a single wicket in the morning session of Day 5. While 284 looks like a distant dream for New Zealand, the kiwis’ squad is trying their best to turn the match into a draw.

Earlier in the first session of Day 5, India was hunting for early wickets but Somerville (36*) and Latham (35*) were able to adjust to the slow nature of the track & easily went through the opening session of Day 5 as New Zealand’s scoreboard reach 79/1 at the Lunch break.
