PCB on Monday announced an experienced & well-balanced 15 member squad for the prestigious ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021. This squad will also feature in the upcoming T20Is against New Zealand & England. The upcoming home T20Is against New Zealand & England will be played from September 25 to October 14 following which Pakistan will proceed to participate in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Dubai starting from 17th October 2021 in the UAE. Pakistan will come into a face-off with arch-rivals India in their ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 opener clash on October 24 at the Dubai International Stadium at 6 PM (local time)
Coming to the 15 member squad, young talents Asif Ali & Khushdil Shah have been included in the team to provide more stability & power to Pakistan’s middle order. Asif Ali’s 29th & last T20I for Pakistan was against Zimbabwe earlier in April. He averages 16.38 with a strike rate of 123/74. Asif Ali’s overall strike rate in T20 Cricket stands at 147. On the other hand, Khushdil Shah’s ninth & last T20I for Pakistan was against South Africa in Lahore earlier this year. Khushdil averages more than 21 & holds a strike rate of 109.24 with an overall strike rate of 134.
The 19 Pakistan Players who were a part of the Paksitan team for the T20I series against England & the West Indies such as Arshad Iqbal, Faheem Ashraf, Fakhar Zaman, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Sharjeel Khan & Usman Qadir have been excluded from the 15 member squad finalized for T20 World Cup 2021. Fakhar Zaman, Usman Qadir, and Shahnawaz Dahani were named as the three traveling reserves.
The 15 player squad includes five batsmen, two wicket-keeper batsmen, four all-rounders & four bowlers.

Chief Selector Muhammad Wasim said in an Official Release, “While selecting the squad, We have tried to cover all our bases by catering for a modern-day brand of T20 cricket that will be required to perform strongly in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. This includes trusting abilities, skills & experience of the players to perform in a high-pressure global tournament in conditions that are familiar to us, as well as looking at the teams we will play in Group 2 matches”.
