West Indies captain Stafanie Taylor & Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib-Al-Hasan have been voted as the winners of the ICC Player of the Month Award for July.
West Indies Women’s team captain Stafanie Taylor was voted as the ICC Player of the Month for July. She contributed with both bat & ball to guide her team to a stunning win in the ODI & T20I series against Pakistan in July.
In the four ODIs against Pakistan Stafanie amassed 175 runs with a strike rate of 79.18 & scalped three wickets with an economy rate of 3.72. Stafanie was also on the top spot in the rankings for batters & all-rounders in the ICC Women’s Ranking for ODIs released in July.
After receiving the award, Stafanie said, “This is a bit surprising to me, winning the ICC Player of the Month award for July but I am happy. It shows that the hard work you put in will pay off & it did, against Pakistan to help us win that series. We played well in both the formats”.
From the Bangladesh squad, all-rounder Shakib-Al-Hasan was awarded the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for July 2021 on the basis of his spectacular performance across all three formats of cricket. Shakib’s stellar performance across all three formats of cricket helped Bangaldesh to win the series against Zimbabwe held in July. He scored 96 runs as Bangladesh defeated Zimbabwe by three wickets in the second ODI at the Harare Sports Club. In the T20Is with the ball, Hasan scalped three wickets at an economy rate of seven leading Bangaldesh to a series win against Zimbabwe. He has also grabbed the top spot in the ICC Men’s T20I Rankings announced on Wednesday.
After receiving the prestigious award, Shakib-Al-Hasan said, “It is very humbling to be voted as the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for July 2021. There have been many outstanding performances during the month & that is why this is special for me. I find most pleasure & satisfaction when I contribute to wins & therefore, I am very happy to have helped in Bangladesh’s successes over the last few weeks”.
