Team India’s young players are currently gearing up for Sri Lanka’s limited-overs tour by sweating it out in the gym. The Indian boys are currently undergoing soft quarantine in Mumbai before leaving for Colombo on June 28.
Some of the young players of the Indian contingent who has impressed the management by displaying astounding performances in the last couple of seasons of the IPL have received their maiden call-up for Sri Lanka’s limited-overs series tour. Players like Devudtt Padikkal, pacer Chetan Sakaria, Nitish Rana, Krishnappa Gowtham & Ruturaj Gaikwad are some of the players who have been included in Sri Lanka’s limited-overs tour.
“Feeling great. In the quarantine, we were trying to do as much work but it feels a lot better to be back in the gym”, said Devdutt Padikkal in a video posted by the BCCI. “We both play for Karnataka & we know each other’s weaknesses. It’s fun training with him”, Krishnappa Gowtham who is a training partner of Padikkal added. Rajasthan Royals star pacer Chetan Sakariya said that he felt great before coming into the gym.
“I checked myself several times in the mirror as I was wearing the Indian jersey. Really excited & happy about my maiden India Call-up. We are used to quarantining now”, the pacer added. Unlike Sakariya, KKR’s Nitish Rana felt that the quarantine process is very long. Nitish Rana said, “I was waiting to meet up with the teammates & one hour in quarantine felt like one year”.
