Virat Kohli keeps India’s Playing XI for 1st test in Suspense, Read to know more!

IND vs ENG: Breaking the tradition of announcing the Playing XI at least 24hrs before the match, India captain Virat Kohli has kept the Playing XI in suspense & said that he will reveal his preferred combinations in the morning of the first test against England which will commence from 4th August at Trent Bridge.

As Shubman Gill & Mayank Agarwal are out of the test series due to injury & Prithvi Shaw will be available from 3rd Test, team India just has two opening choices in their team i.e. Rohit Sharma & KL Rahul.

“We will announce the XI tomorrow before we go for the toss, so you can know who is opening with Rohit. We are absolutely fine and happy with where we are placed,” Virat Kohli said at a virtual press conference on Tuesday.

While there have been speculations that Hanuma Vihari or Cheteshwar Pujara will open with Rohit Sharma. According to the reports, KL Rahul will open with Rohit Sharma. However, the bowling combinations will be decided on the basis of the amount of green grass on the Trent Bridge Pitch which is already sporting a greenish look, favorable for seamers. But if the grass would be cut off on Wednesday morning then Virat & Co might have to change their bowling combinations. But whether it’s pacers or spinners Virat is confident that India will be able to bowl out Joe Root & Co in the test series.

“We are definitely much better prepared than we have been in the past. But you can have all the experience in the world but it all boils down to execution, as long as we embrace that, we will find the answers to every question that is being thrown at us,” Virat Kohli said.

“I am confident in our bowlers. No matter who bats, we are capable of bowling England out consistently throughout the series. As far as Broad & Anderson are concerned, we will respond on the pitch and won’t ignore it. We are well prepared to give them an able response,” Virat Kohli declared.

India has last won the Test Series in England in 2007 under the leadership of Rahul Dravid & since then the Indian team has struggled to beat England on their home ground.
