WI vs PAK 2021: Cricket West Indies announced a 13 member-squad for the first test against Pakistan

WI vs PAK Test 2021: Cricket West Indies Selection Panel announced a 13 member squad for the first test against Pakistan starting from 12th August.

The two-match Test series will be played at Sabina Park from August 12-16 & August 20-24. This series is a part of the first six test series in the new cycle of the ICC WTC 2021-2023.

Off-spinner Rahkeem Cornwall couldn’t make it to the squad for the first test, while middle-order batter Nkrumah Bonner has been recalled into the team. Earlier Bonner suffered a concussion during the first test against South Africa in June this year & thus he was ruled out of the entire series.

Jomel Warrican has been included in the squad as a specialist spinner ahead of Cornwall. Lead Selector Roger Harper said that management has included Warrican to have a bit more variety in their bowling department.

West Indies National team Lead Selector, Roger Harper said, “The Selection Panel choose a squad that provides both the pace & spin bowling options. With Roston Chase included, variety was considered in the selection of Jomel Warrican”.

“It is good to have Nkrumah Bonner back. The team does very well when our batsmen score centuries as we saw against Bangladesh & Sri Lanka. So, I look forward to our batsmen scoring big”, he added.

With the pitch at Sabina Park has been traditionally pacer-friendly, West Indies are going ahead with four pacers in the first test match
