WI vs AUS 5th T20I: Evin Lewis 79 runs off 34 balls along Cottrell & Andre Russell’s three wickets haul guided West Indies to a stunning 16 runs win over Australia in the fifth & final T20I held on Friday. With this win, West Indies have clinched the five-match T20I series with a 4-1 score.

For Australia bowler, Andre Tye scalped three wickets while Adam Zampa & Mitchell Marsh scalped two wickets each. Chasing a Mammoth target of 22 runs, Australia got off to a bad start as Sheldon Cottrell dismissed Josh Phillipe in the first over as the opener top-edged a pull shot. Captain Aaron Finch & Mitchell Marsh steadied Australia’s submerging inning by stitching a 37 runs stand for the second wicket. Together the batsmen guided Australia to 46 runs in four overs before Russell held his nerve to remove Marsh from the crease. At the end of the powerplay, Australia was heading well in their chase of 200 runs despite losing Phillipe & Marsh as hosts brought up a scintillating 66 runs in their first six overs.

In the tenth over, the hosts had an edge over visitors. Fabian Allen took a brilliant catch while Nicholas Pooran ran out Moises Henriques with a direct hit as Australia lost two wickets. Australia then required 70 runs in the last over but they can’t score it as Russell clean bowled Matthew Wade in the 16th over. Australia kept losing wickets at regular intervals & were left reeling at 183/9.

Earlier, hosts ended their innings at 199/8 after a scintillating half-century from Evin Lewis. The opener gave a stunning start to the West Indies innings as the hosts registered 119 runs in the first 10 overs. But Australian bowlers ran through their batting order & limited West Indies, who could score just 80 runs in the last 10 overs of their innings. As a result, Russell, Fabian Allen, & Darren Bravo all could manage to score single-digit scores
